SMS & WhatsApp Messaging Terms

EvangelIT operates an SMS and WhatsApp messaging program that enables churches, ministries, and individual believers to send and receive faith-based outreach communications. Messages may be sent by EvangelIT on behalf of your church, ministry, or a believer you know personally. Messages support pastoral care, discipleship, devotional sharing, and ministry follow-up. We do not send marketing or promotional content. We do not share phone numbers with third parties for advertising.

You may opt in to receive SMS or WhatsApp messages from EvangelIT through one of two clearly disclosed paths:

Path 1 — Direct signup on our website

Visit https://www.evangelit.app/signup, choose your account type, complete the statement of faith, and on the account details step you will see an optional, not pre-checked consent checkbox that reads verbatim:

This checkbox is optional and unchecked by default. SMS consent is separate from account creation — you can create your account without checking it, and opt in later.

Path 2 — Church administrator enrolment

A registered church administrator on EvangelIT may add you as a ministry contact only after obtaining your prior verbal or written consent. The administrator attests to having received your consent before adding you, and EvangelIT records the consent timestamp and method on your contact record. If you receive a message from EvangelIT and do not recall giving consent, reply STOP and we will immediately cease all messages and remove you from outreach lists.

If you opt in, you may receive the following types of messages:

• Pastoral check-ins — caring touch-points from a church leader (e.g. “Hi Sarah, this is Pastor James from Grace Community Church. We're checking in to see how you're doing this week.”)
• Outreach follow-up — gentle follow-up from a ministry contact after you've visited or expressed interest
• Devotional content — Scripture-based encouragement for opted-in subscribers
• Care alerts — when you've requested prayer or pastoral support
• Account notifications — sign-in alerts, billing reminders, security notices

Every message identifies the sender (your church or EvangelIT), addresses you by your first name, and includes the “Reply STOP to opt out” instruction.

Message frequency varies based on your ministry context and the time of year. Typically this is a small number of messages per month; some users receive fewer.

EvangelIT does not charge you for the messages you receive. However, standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Check your wireless plan for details.

You can opt out of all SMS and WhatsApp messages from EvangelIT at any time, free of charge. Reply with any of the following keywords:

STOP  ·  STOPALL  ·  UNSUBSCRIBE  ·  CANCEL  ·  END  ·  QUIT

After you reply STOP, we will immediately send a confirmation: “You're unsubscribed from EvangelIT. You will receive no more messages from this number. Reply START to opt back in.”

Your phone number is marked as opted-out in our system. All scheduled messages to you are cancelled. We will not contact you again unless you re-subscribe by replying START.

For non-urgent questions, email outreach@evangelit.app.

If you previously opted out and want to start receiving messages again, reply START to a previous EvangelIT message. You will receive a confirmation and resume receiving messages at the standard frequency.

We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for marketing. We use it only to deliver EvangelIT messages and pastoral care from churches you have joined. Phone numbers are processed by Twilio (our SMS/WhatsApp delivery provider) under their Data Processing Agreement. See our full Privacy Policy and Subprocessor list.

For users outside the United States, our messaging program complies with applicable local law including GDPR (EU/EEA), UK GDPR, LGPD (Brazil), NDPA (Nigeria), DPDP (India), CCPA (California), and PIPEDA (Canada). International users may also use WhatsApp messaging in place of SMS where SMS delivery is not supported. See our Privacy Policy Section 11 for full international rights.

SMS messaging in the United States is supported on all major carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, and their MVNOs). Delivery is not guaranteed on prepaid plans or in areas with limited carrier coverage. EvangelIT is not liable for messages that fail to deliver due to carrier limitations.

We may update these messaging terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by SMS or email to opted-in subscribers at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued receipt of messages after the change date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
